Fastest 100 x 5 km relay: The Charlotte Running Club sets world record
CHARLOTTE, N.C., USA -- The Charlotte Running Club said 100 runners ages 14 to 56 -- including three eighth graders -- completed successive 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) runs in 30:56:14 -
setting the new world record for the Fastest 100 x 5 km relay.

The previous Guinness world record for The fastest 100 x 5 km relay was completed in 37 hr 12 min 54 sec by the Florida Striders Track Club (USA).
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest 100 x 10 km (6.2 mile) relay : 77 hr 17 min 25 sec, set by the Florida Striders Track Club, (USA).
The Charlotte Running Club said 100 runners ages 14 to 56 -- including three eighth graders -- completed successive 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) runs in 30:56:14, the Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported.
That's 1,250 laps on a quarter-mile track, for more than 310 miles.
"There was always someone running ... which is impressive when you consider how cold it got and how heavy it was raining at times. There were zero breaks," said the club's social director, Emily Barrett.
